INFANT & EARLY CHILDHOOD
When children have experienced the loss of a loved one, a serious medical procedure, an accident, or have witnessed or experienced abuse in their homes they often show how they feel through their behaviors. Gwendolyn Nitz, LCSW, IMH-III is a Child Parent Psychotherapist and an Infant Mental Health Specialist with over 10 years of experience treating children birth to 6. She also has additional training in play therapy, DIR-Floortime and art therapy.

Ms. Nitz, LCSW, IMH-III also treats children who struggle to form attachment bonds with their caregivers due to foster or adoption placement, neurodiversity or other circumstances. Parents often seek out treatment when they know something is wrong but can’t figure out what their child needs.

Young children are born with the capacity to build secure bonds with their primary caregivers and often need help managing and expressing their emotions. Caregivers are the most important people in a child’s life. Young children rely on caregivers to feel safe, secure and understood.
